April 2017 Events

On April 15th, 2017 the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation will host the 5th Annual Resource Fair for Foster Youth. If you are a grandparent, family member caring for a foster youth, or a foster youth you are encouraged to bring your child or come yourself.

There are over 28 agencies coming who provide services and support to foster youth and this year there are 11 employers and trade unions coming to familiarize the youth with entry level opportunities. The continued added bonus is the free clothing giving away. The Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation has secured over $22,000.00 worth of brand new clothing for the fair. If you have additional questions contact Jackie Broxton via the FAME Church Office.

Commemoration recognized 25th anniversary of 1992 L.A. Civil Unrest

First AME Church of Los Angeles (FAME) and the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles (KAFLA) co-sponsored a 4/29 Unity Event on April 29 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the city’s 1992 civil unrest.

The program, held at FAME’s Allen House Gardens, featured unifying remarks from L.A.’s Black and Korean leaders that illustrated the vastly improved relationship between the African American and Korean American communities. Over the years, many people had cited the conflict amongst the two ethnicities as a contributing factor leading to the uprising.
