5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Her melodious and soaring delivery lifted praise to Heaven countless times in our sanctuary.  Her graciousness touched the heart of every worshipper who waited to tell her how their hearts were touched by the way she shared the Good News.  She lifted us with her smile and her beautiful, gentle spirit.  We long ago stopped greeting her as a visitor and instead welcomed her as our own.   Now “The Voice” that could only have been created in and sent from Heaven has returned to the celestial studio.

First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles joins our gospel community and faith families worldwide in offering prayers of peace and love to the family and loved ones of Sister Edna Tatum.  We pray that your memories that are stored in the treasure albums in your hearts will bring you comfort and warmth.   We were blessed beyond measure to have Sister Tatum share her talents with us.

The clergy, members and officers of First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles salute Sister Edna Tatum for her outstanding work as a messenger for the Kingdom.  She set the gold standard of excellence, and we resolve that those standards shall be what we and future generations aspire to achieve.

Today let us shout “Hallelujah” as we give honor, glory and praise to Almighty God, from whom all blessings flow, for the life, legacy, work and witness of His servant.

Sister Edna Tatum, a most excellent Ambassador to His Kingdom.
